Fawcett calls for more women in politics
Ceri Goddard, chief executive of the Fawcett Society was on GMTV on 13th May 2010 talking about the lack of women in key roles for the cabinet. According to her, 'The government should lead a debate on how to encourage more women to enter politics as part of its electoral reform policies'.
She said: "This year we are going to discuss a new bill on reforming politics so why don't they, all together in this brave new era for politics, seriously have a debate about how they are going to get more women... in the house."
Theresa May, home secretary and Caroline Spelman, environment minister are the only two women in the cabinet.
