Employers need to be creative about recruiting and retaining talent.
Without any doubt, the recession presents a perfect opportunity for revolutionary businesses to recruit new talent. Forward-thinking businesses would take advantage of the talent that ‘unexpectedly’ is out of work. They can strategically tap into this talent pool and build strong teams that will be committed to the company, and help achieve long-term goals once the economy inexorably turns around.
Over the past few years, we have had a job rich environment where there were more job openings than candidates. The current situation is the direct opposite, as there are a limited number of jobs available. In order to ensure that they attract the right candidates, companies need to be extremely creative about their recruitment processes. It is important that companies capitalise on the talent that is currently available and screen candidates in a meticulous way to ensure that talented candidates don’t slip through the hole. Now is not the time for businesses to be complacent. Instead they ought to adopt an aggressive plan to attract and recruit the best talent ‘amongst the large pool of candidates that is actively looking for work.
Recruitment advertising needs to be scrupulously crafted in order to attract the most suitable candidates. Veronica Akinyemi, Employ A Woman’s CEO believes that due to her company’s quality-driven approach, companies that exhibit at their local and national recruitment events will have the perfect platform to gain access to smart and talented women.
