I feel very comfortable speaking to people about their finances....

Rebecca Avery

Rebecca AveryThe enforcement sector is often viewed as a ‘man’s world’, but Marston Group is challenging this stereotype with its campaign to recruit more female enforcement agents. Take for example Rebecca Avery, at 25 years of age Rebecca is comfortable with speaking to people about their finances, having managed her own mortgage consultancy for four years. As a natural communicator, Rebecca negotiates with debtors to help them understand why their fine has escalated to enforcement stage and the procedure that will take place if payment isn’t received.

Formerly known as Certificated Bailiffs, enforcement agents are responsible for the collection of various unpaid court fines, parking penalties, council tax and business rates, so good communications skills are vital. Debtors need to understand why their fine has escalated to enforcement stage and the consequences if payment isn’t received.  Rebecca also states it is imperative to remain, “calm, assertive, confident, empathic and self-disciplined”.

Enforcement agents have the freedom to work flexible hours with a strong emphasis placed on the importance of good communication skills and females are fast becoming some of Marston Group’s most successful collectors.  According to Marston Group, their staff come from all walks of life; a former teacher, journalist, shop keeper, police officer and even a barrister. The Group also has a highly commended City & Guilds training centre, where essential training is provided for all new and existing staff. If you would like to learn more on becoming an agent please contact Marketing@marstongroup.co.uk for an information pack.
